The Outbreak Observatory team, in collaboration with the Pandemic Center’s Tracking Report, aggregates, interprets, and contextualizes published data relevant to domestic and international infectious disease outbreaks and presents it in a concise, reader-friendly format. Each week, a team of independent researchers reviews data from local, state, national, and international sources to identify ongoing and emerging public health threats. The team analyzes this data, helping readers to understand outbreak trends, potential causes of those trends, and how they compare to what has been seen previously. In doing so, we provide critical information to the public on health security threats, sound the alarm when necessary to provoke action, and help hold accountable those charged with protecting public health.
